My Helen’s House, Inc. was honored to be in attendance at Project R.E.D.: The Awakening, hosted by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated — Metropolitan Dallas Alumnae Chapter on Thursday, December 4, 2025. This impactful event centered on raising HIV awareness and empowering communities through education, dialogue, and prevention.

Texas currently leads the nation in new HIV infections and has the third-largest population of people living with HIV. Approximately 15% of those individuals are undiagnosed, and new cases disproportionately affect Black women. The highest numbers of affected individuals reside in Harris, Dallas, Bexar, Tarrant, and Travis counties — with Houston carrying the highest concentration statewide.

Throughout the program, dynamic speakers shed light on the importance of breaking stigma, getting tested, and changing lives with knowledge. They reinforced how open communication, accurate information, access to PrEP and condoms, and community-level dialogue can save lives. Youth, in particular, are vulnerable to outdated myths and misinformation — making education and "the talk" essential tools for prevention and early treatment.

My Helen’s House, Inc. is committed to continuing these necessary conversations surrounding HIV. After witnessing the passion and purpose of Project R.E.D., we are more encouraged than ever to help elevate awareness, empower families, and support healthier outcomes for our communities.
